1 Killed, At Least 10 Injured In NYC Shootings Overnight Amid Spike In Violence

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – There’s been no letup in the spike in gun violence in New Yok City this month, with another death and more injuries reported overnight.

There were at least eight shootings Thursday into Friday, leaving one man dead and at least ten others injured, according to police.

In Brownsville, a 20-year-old man was shot in the head and killed when gunfire erupted outside an apartment building on New Lots Avenue Thursday evening. Video shows a man walking up to the victim and opening fire, police said.

A woman in the shooting was hospitalized with gunshot wounds to her arm and torso.

There were also shootings reported overnight in Crown Heights, Far Rockaway, Mott Haven, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Sheepshead Bay, East Harlem and Astoria.

All of the victims in those shootings were expected to survive.

There’s been a nearly 130 percent spike in gun violence across the boroughs this year compared to the same period last year, according to WNBC.

Early Thursday morning, two men were killed when they were shot in the head as they sat in a parked car on Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx.
