NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the attempted rape of a jogger in a Bronx park.

Authorities said the 35-year-old woman was jogging in Bronx River Forest Park just before 8 a.m. Monday when the suspect attacked her from behind. He allegedly put his hand over her mouth and an arm across her chest in an attempt to pull her backwards.

Police said she managed to fight him off and called out for help before running further into the park to escape.

The victim came across the suspect a second time as she was leaving the park and managed to take his picture. She escaped on foot and was treated for minor injuries, authorities reported.

The teen was arrested at his home Tuesday night on attempted rape and harassment charges, according to the NYPD.
