NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A 15-year-old girl died after falling from a fire escape in Manhattan Sunday night, according to police.

Imogen Roche was seen on the fire escape at 110 Read Street, near West Broadway, at around 11 p.m.

The Daily News reports that she was trying to enter a locked room at a party in the building, to retrieve her phone. She stepped onto the fire escape to enter the room through the window when she fell, sources said.

Police said Roche fell five stories to the ground. Witnesses quickly called 911 and the teen was transported to Bellevue Hospital, where she later died.

Investigators confirmed she did not live in the building and have ruled her death an accident.

Roche appeared to be an aspiring actress and dancer, starring in short films posting online by the Manhattan Youth after school program that's run by her father.
