$150 Million In Drugs Seized At New Jersey Rest Stop

NEW YORK (WCBS 880)—A weekend bust at a rest stop in Hunterdon County led to a seizure of $150 million worth of opioids.

The DEA says two drug dealers met at a truck stop in Bloomsbury, New Jersey.

DEA agents were there to meet them.

Inside one of the truck’s trailers was a total of 40 lbs. of opioids, with a street value of $150 million.

Luis Aponte, 48, of Hesperia, California, and Denny Diaz, 29, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, were each charged with one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

Both men appeared in federal court in Newark on Monday and face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
