NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Police are still searching for a suspect in the Brooklyn shooting that killed a 16-year-old Friday afternoon.

As WCBS 880’s Steve Burns reports, authorities were outside the Chester Playground in the Brownsville section of the borough hanging posted on light poles that read, “Your city, your call.”

There is still no description of the gunman.

“For something like that to happen, it’s very shocking,” said one resident.

Police identified the teen as Olowutimi Oybula from Jamaica, Queens. He attends a charter school in Brooklyn.

He was struck by a stray bullet in a basketball court behind P.S. 306 and rushed to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“It's a sad thing. The school is right there, he's playing basketball, he could be my son as well or anybody else.”

Police do not believe Oybula was the intended target of the shooting, as he was at least 1000 feet from where the gun was fired.

Oybula’s father told CBS2 his son was doing really well in school and was hoping to become a doctor or an engineer.

“I just need an answer. I need an answer,” David Oybula said.

Two suspects we spotted on Chester Street fleeing the scene.
