GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — An 18-year-old accused of fatally stabbing an Oceanside High School student is expected to be indicted Tuesday morning.

As WCBS 880’s Sophia Hall reports, 18-year-old Tyler Flach’s attorney, Edward Sappone, believes there is evidence that another person had a knife during an afterschool brawl last week that resulted in the death of 16-year-old Khaseen Morris.

“There is at least still photos of what appears to be another individual at the very scene with what appears to be a knife,” Sappone said.

A number of teenagers at the scene of the fight videotaped the fatal stabbing on their phones and shared the footage on social media, according to police.

Authorities say Flach was seen on video with a knife during the brawl shortly before Morris was stabbed multiple times.

Sappone says Flach will be indicted on Tuesday, but he was never even involved in the original dispute that started the large fight.

“This thing was motivated by the jealousy of an ex-boyfriend. Tyler Flach was never her ex-boyfriend, in terms of a jealous motivation. Tyler Flach doesn't have one,” the attorney noted.

Police, however, say Flach was friends with the ex-boyfriend, who was looking to fight Morris for trying to date his ex-girlfriend.

Flach is currently being held in protective custody behind bars.
