NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Three NYPD officers were injured and 11 people were arrested after violence, taunting and gunfire erupted at a barbecue at the Marcy Houses in Brooklyn on Saturday night.

The New York Post reports that at some point late Saturday night, NYPD officers had to break up the barbecue in Bedford-Stuyvesant, which set off a violent scene in which bottles and other objects were thrown at officers.

One officer got a cut on his arm from broken glass. Overall, three officers suffered minor injuries, according to the Post.

Patrol cars and officers could be seen moving through the Marcy Houses, trying to get the situation under control.

Some people taunted officers, with at least one man calling them “cowards.”

Six or seven gunshots also erupted from a rooftop, which sent cops running towards the gunfire, according to the Post. No gun-related injuries were reported.

Video posted online shows people throwing milk into their eyes after witnesses said they were pepper-sprayed by police.

The chaotic scene comes amid a spat of incidents in which officers have had water dumped on them across the city.
