PATERSON (WCBS 880) – Four people were killed, and three other people wounded, in a shooting in Paterson overnight, authorities said.

The seven people were shot near Harrison and Carroll streets shortly after 11 p.m.

Four of the victims died, while three others were being treated at an area hospital, according to WNBC.

Witnesses said gunfire came from a vehicle that sped away from the scene.

The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office said the shooting may be gang related.

U.S. Marshals were reportedly in an ongoing standoff with a suspect on Hamilton Street on Wednesday morning, although it's unclear if it was related to the shooting overnight.

Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh said the suspect in the standoff was wanted on a murder warrant out of New York City, WNBC reported.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
