KEANSBURG, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- High drama on the waters off of New Jersey.

FDNY firefighters rescued five people after their motorboat capsized in rough seas in Sandy Hook Bay off Keansburg.

Members of Marine 8 raced to the overturned boat around 9 p.m. Friday.

FDNY Lt. Philip Miller said it took about 10 minutes to get there in 5 to 6' waves. They were able to pull all five people safely into the boat. He said they got there just in time. The boaters were showing signs of hypothermia.

The boaters were grateful. Miller said they thanked the firefighters all the way into port.
