Suspect Sought In Sex Assault Of 89-Year-Old Woman In Nanuet

July 06, 2018 - 1:24 pm

NANUET, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- The hunt is on for a suspect who sexually assaulted an 89-year-old woman in Nanuet earlier this week.

Clarkstown Detective Pete Walker said the victim is suffering from early stages of memory loss and can't offer many clues.

"That is accounting for some of the lack of information that we would normally get from a victim," Walker said.

The initial report was that someone had assaulted the woman.

"We have been able to ascertain through medical examinations that this was a sexual assault and you can only imagine we have every resource possible working on this investigation," Walker said.

Police believe it happened sometime between 5 p.m. on July 3rd and 5 a.m. on July 4th near College Avenue and 1st Street.

"If you were in that area around that time or if you have access to any kind of video surveillance footage from that area or the areas around that area between those times please contact the Clarkstown Police Department's Detective Bureau," Walker said.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Clarkstown Police Department Detective Bureau at (845)639-5800 or (845)639-5840.
