Adams, Hikind Urge Police Officers, Jews To Be Armed In Churches, Synagogues

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- After 11 people were gunned down inside a Pittsburgh synagogue on Saturday, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams wants all retired and off-duty policers to carry a gun with them to church or synagogue.

Adams is a retired NYPD captain.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind tweeted that he was registering immediately for a gun license and that he was encouraging other jews to do the same to protect their institutions and synagogues.

Hikind says, "if we are targets, we need to be prepared."

Hikind also said, "Each synagogue & Jewish institution needs armed guards. We can't depend on miracles. These murders and the hateful words inspiring attacks are attacks on the ENTIRE Jewish people."

President Trump on Saturday said the outcome at Pittsburgh synagogue would have been different with armed guards.
