CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — An Ms-13 gang member from Long Island was sentenced to over two decades in prison on Monday for the murder of a 15-year-old boy.

Dennis Lopez, 20, was given 23 years to life in prison for the murder of 15-year-old Angel Soler in July 2015.

The admitted MS-13 gang member previously pleaded guilty to the violent murder, which involved the use of a machete, because he thought the teenager belonged to a rival gang.

According to court records, the 20-year-old murdered Soler with a machete and encased his remains in cement and then buried the remains inside a wooded area in Roosevelt.

“Dennis Lopez and his co-defendants helped lure innocent 15-year old Angel Soler into the woods and relentlessly hacked him to death,” said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas. “This young man's family had to endure three months of not knowing where Angel was, until his body was found in a remote area and covered in concrete.”

The alleged head of the Long Island chapter of the Hollywood Clique of MS-13 – which Lopez belonged to – David Sosa Guevara and Victor Lopez were previously indicted in connection to the murder.

The victim's mother says she moved to Long Island with her son to escape the gang violence in their native Honduras.
