Alleged Gang Member Pleads Not Guilty To New IHOP Shooting Charge

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — A Long Island man pleaded not guilty Thursday to a new charge of attempted murder after allegedly shooting a man inside a Lake Ronkonkoma IHOP earlier this month.

“For this defendant to fire five rounds in a crowded restaurant with an infant nearby is nothing but depraved,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Time Sini.

Deontrae Green, 19, is accused of opened fire inside the restaurant in Lake Ronkonkoma at around 1:25 p.m., hitting 20-year-old Tyriek Corbin.

“You’ll see on the video that the infant’s forehead almost crashes onto the table. You can see the family sitting in that booth. Imagine for a moment being that family, you’re eating pancakes one moment, gunfire erupts and your infant is essentially trampled by an individual,” Sini said.

Police say the two are members of rival sets of the Bloods street gang.

Green was originally charged with first-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree criminal use of a firearm and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Corbin, who fled the scene, was taken to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle and treated for a non-life-threatening wound. He is expected to survive.

Green faces 25 years in prison if convicted. He is being held on $1.5 million bond.
