NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A woman claiming to be a victim of a self-help guru told a jury Monday how the leader created a “sorority of sex slaves

The secret NXIVM meetings often started with a photo, 42-year-old Lauren Salzman told the jury.

According to WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell, she testified that alleged sex cult leader Keith Raniere wanted the women in the group to always be fully naked with their brands showing and looking happy.

Salzman testified the pictures were sent to Raniere for approval and were often taken numerous times if one of the women didn’t look happy or if the photo wasn’t sexually explicit enough.

She said the branding was a seared scar of Raniere's initials near the victims’ privates.

Raniere is accused of holding women against their will and extorting them. Salzman told the jury that she and other women, including TV actress Allison Mack, was his “slaves.”

On Friday, she told the jury she was fully devoted to the alleged cult leader and claimed to have been in a monogamous relationship with Raniere from 2001 to around 2013.

She is testifying after pleading guilty to charges she abused lower-ranking slaves. Mack has also pleaded guilty to similar charges.

The defense claims the women all acted voluntarily.
