NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A 2-year-old girl with autism who was abducted in the Bronx has been found safe and a suspect was taken into police custody after a Amber Alert was issued Wednesday.

Seniya Benitez, who is non-verbal, was taken by her father, 21-year-old Christian Benitez, near Gleason Avenue at around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police said.

According to CBS2 News, her grandmother, who has legal custody of the child, got into some sort of argument with the girl's father at the time of the abduction.

Benitez, authorities said, is not permitted to have unsupervised contact with his daughter.

An Amber Alert was issued for the 2-year-old girl at around 2 p.m. Wednesday, but canceled shortly after 6 p.m. when she was found healthy with no injuries.

Officials did not say where Seniya was discovered.

When police issued the alert, the two had last been seen boarding a 6 train in an unknown direction.
