NEW YORK (AP) -- Ambulance workers needed ambulances after two of their medical vehicles were involved in a violent crash in the Bronx.

FDNY officials say four emergency workers were injured and needed medical attention Saturday afternoon when one of the ambulances plowed into the other at an intersection in the Mott Haven section.

Chaotic surveillance video (above) shows the impact of the crash, which sent one of the ambulances tumbling onto its side.

Two EMS workers were trapped inside the overturned ambulance.

The FDNY said there were no patients in either vehicle.

The emergency medical workers were taken to Lincoln Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident snarled traffic from the Bronx to Manhattan's East Side.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. The ambulances were responding to an emergency call.
