NEW YORK (AP) -- Authorities say a blaze in an Upper Manhattan apartment building killed a man and critically injured a woman Saturday morning.

Police say the 51-year-old man and the 86-year-old woman were found unresponsive in a second-floor apartment in a building on Seaman Avenue in the Inwood neighborhood.

The man was pronounced dead at a hospital. He was later identified as Alberto Urena of Manhattan.

The woman was in critical condition Saturday. She's reportedly the mother of the man.

Firefighters say two other people declined medical attention at the scene.

Fire marshals are investigating what caused the blaze.
