NEW YORK (AP) -- A deli worker in the Bronx was killed when a man walked into the shop, fired several shots at him and ran off.

The NYPD said the victim was working the counter Friday evening at B&A Gourmet Deli in the Mott Haven neighborhood when he was shot by a masked man.

The 34-year-old worker was taken to Lincoln Hospital, wher he was pronounced dead.

He was identified Saturday evening as Yahya Almuntser of the Bronx.

Police said the motive is unclear and that nothing was taken from the deli.

The NYPD released images of the suspect on Sunday.

Neighbors remembered the victim as a friendly face of the neighborhood.

“I go to the store every day with my son after school,” Edith Robles told WCBS-TV. “It’s terrible. Someone you know, someone you’re used to seeing every day. I feel bad for his family, for the other guys that were there that had to experience that.

The Yemeni American Merchants Association is offering a reward in the case.
