TEANECK, N.J. (WCBS 880) – Democrats are blaming President Trump for failing to make a deal to reopen the government, but what about them?

WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell posed the question to Democratic Congressman Josh Gottheimer, who is part of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus.

Despite being asked repeatedly, Gottheimer wouldn’t say why Democrats won’t just fund the wall. He says both sides need to compromise.

“Nobody should ever expect to get everything they want. I’ve always found that you’ll never find a way forward if you think you’re going to get 100 percent or nothing,” he said.

When asked what he’d be willing to give up to make a deal, he didn’t offer any specifics: “Are Democrats willing to find a good way forward? I think Democrats are willing to find a good way forward.”
