Authorities: FBI Agent Shot, Injured In Brooklyn

December 08, 2018 - 8:22 pm

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- An FBI agent was shot and injured during a shootout in Brooklyn on Saturday, the agency said.

The agent was on duty conducting surveillance at 93rd Street and Avenue N in Canarsie around 3:30 p.m. Saturday when he was shot in the shoulder, according to authorities.

Police told WABC-TV that two undercover FBI agents were sitting in a car when shots were fired from a vehicle driving by, and the agents returned fire.

The agent was taken to a hospital and was in stable condition, police said.

Two suspects initially got away. One apparently dumped a bullet-ridden car at a nearby body shop and hopped into a second car, WCBS 880's Steve Burns reported. He drove himself to a nearby hospital where sources say he was hoping for some help treating a gunshot wound. That suspect was taken into custody and a second suspect is also under arrest.

Police tape rings a large area stretching around Seaview and Remsen avenues, with dozens of NYPD, FBI and ATF personnel checking out the scene.
