LI Bagel Store Sells Red-Faced Cookies After Customer's Angry Rant

July 11, 2019 - 11:36 am

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A Long Island bagel shop has turned out some new menu items following a customer's now viral outburst.

A viral outburst by a Long Island bagel store customer is now being commemorated with cookies.

Bagel Boss in Bay Shore introduced the red, angry face cookies Thursday a day after a man was caught on video in the store going on a bizarre tirade about women and dating sites.

The eruption of words apparently started when a female employee smiled at the customer Wednesday morning. He declared she was smirking and launched into the rant.

“Why is it OK for women to say, ‘Oh you’re 5-feet on dating sites, you should be dead.’ That’s OK?” the customer can be seen yelling in a video that has exploded on social media.

Longtime employee Krystal Fedorka, who witnessed the incident, tells WCBS 880's Sophia Hall, "He started making degrading comments towards the women here, another woman patron behind him asked him simply, 'Why are you making degrading comments to the women?' and he turned around and he just went berserk."

After the man was tackled by another customer, the police were called but no arrests were made.

"I had anxiety. My heart was racing," Fedorka said. "I didn't want any part of it but I didn't want anyone to get hurt either."

Video of the rant, which was captured and posted to Twitter by two customers, has been viewed more than 20 millions times.

WARNING: Video contains profanity.

It even caught the attention of model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen who tweeted, "do bagel boss-esque situations/fights happen often??? I need to witness one of these in person. this could be the thing that drags me out of my house. where do I need to post up with my camping chair??"

In addition to the angry face cookies, Fedorka said she is also making cookies with the women empowerment symbol.

"I don't think that he should have been in here degrading women like that," Fedorka said. "I think that's more important to remember than him coming in here acting irate."

Bagel Boss is also giving out free mini bagels Thursday to customers who mention having seen the video.

Meanwhile, a YouTube channel appears to show videos of the same man involved in similar encounters at other stores, prompting many to speculate he's staging these incidents for internet fame.
