BRANFORD, Conn. (WCBS 880) -- They weren’t sitting on a tuffet, and they weren’t eating their curds and whey – a woman and her 11-year-old son were actually about to start eating grapes.

But nevertheless, along came a spider.

The woman had bought the grapes at a Stop & Shop store in Branford, Connecticut. She got home and sat down to eat them with her son when they spotted the black widow spider crawling around.

Luckily, the venomous spider did not bite.

The woman even got a full refund from the store.

Stop & Shop said while they take all means necessary to keep spiders out, it is possible for them to get in because they are part of the “natural, organic environment.”
