Bonnano Crime Family Associate Gunned Down At Bronx McDonald's

October 05, 2018 - 9:40 am

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- An associate of the Bonnano family was gunned down at a McDonald's in the Bronx.

Sylvester Zottola, 71, was shot multiple times Thursday afternoon while sitting in his Acura waiting for a coffee at the drive-thru on Webster Avenue near East 173rd Street, WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported.

Zottola is no stranger to violence. In September, he was clubbed over the head while walking near his Bronx home, in November he escaped an attempted gunpoint kidnapping and in December, he was stabbed in the neck as he discovered three burglars ransacking his home, according to a New York Post report.

Bonnano's 41-year-old son, Salvatore, was injured this past summer in a shooting while he was walking near his Throggs Neck home.

That was supposed to send a message to his father, according to the Post.

In that case, Zottola did not cooperate with police and no arrest were made, Diamond reported.
