Celebrate The Royal Wedding At These NYC Viewing Parties

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- You won't be able to avoid the royal wedding Saturday as it's carried on all the major networks and streaming on several platforms online.

But if you really want a piece of the action several New York restaurants and bars are having early morning "viewing parties."

It's the place where Meghan Markle's character on "Suits" wanted to get married so perhaps it's only fitting that the royal wedding will be shown on several large screens at the Palm Court in the Plaza Hotel.

"We want everyone here in New York to get really in on the action," says Anne Chertoff, an etiquette expert who teaches classes like the Dutchess Effect at the Plaza. "There's not many times in your life where you get to wear a hat or a fascinator so this is one of them, and it'll be really fun to see what people wear."

Despite the early hour, champagne and gin cocktails are on the menu for the $150-per-person breakfast, and for dessert a lemon and elderflower cake pop inspired by the flavors of Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding cake.

Tea & Sympathy in the West Village is also hosting a viewing party.

Owner Nikki Perry said tea and scones with clotted cream will be served.

"No champagne cause they're not allowed to drink champagne on the streets unless you put it in paper bags and be very naught," she said.

Perry expects a crowd to 2011 when police had to close the block outside of her restaurant to accomodate all of the people watching William and Kate's wedding.

The Chester, The Shakespear at the William Hotel, The Churchill Tavern and many other locations are also hosting early-morning viewing parties.
