Citing Parking Concerns, Mets Urge Fans To Use Mass Transit On 'Game Of Thrones' Night

April 25, 2019 - 1:19 pm

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The Mets are expecting a big crowd at Citi Field this Saturday, meaning traffic and parking is going to be a hassle.

Saturday is “Game of Thrones” night at the stadium and the first 25,000 fans in attendance will receive a bobble head depicting Noah Syndergaard sitting on the Iron Throne.

The figurine is a callback to Syndergaard’s guest appearance on the HBO show as a spear-throwing soldier in the Lannister army in the episode titled “The Spoils of War.”

Fans eager to get their hands on the bobble head are expected to flood Citi Field early in the day, but the team is suggesting considering using ridesharing or mass transit if you’re hoping to get in without a hitch.

LUZIA by Cirque du Soleil is setting up in parking lot C, meaning there will be hundreds of fewer parking spaces available for the game against the Brewers.

Saturday is also especially sensitive because of other scheduled events at nearby Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Mass transit is always considered a good option for Citi Field, but for Saturday night, it might be the smartest move you can make.

First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. Saturday. Cirque du Soleil performances will be running from May 3 to June 9.
