Report: City Workers Donate Big To Dems, But Not De Blasio

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Mayor Bill de Blasio’s presidential campaign is not getting much support from his hometown, according to a New York Post report.

The newspaper says de Blasio has only raised $12,600 from city employees.

Meanwhile, the city’s workforce has contributed five times as much to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sander’s campaign.

The report found New York City employees also contributed more to Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg than they have to the city’s mayor.

The report comes as Mayor de Blasio continues to struggle to quality for the Democratic debate next month.

“We’ve been working and fighting to get into September. It's not there yet. I can be honest about that. I'm not going to get into specific numbers, but it's just not there," de Blasio said at an event in Brooklyn on Thursday.

The mayor remains optimistic but has not received 2% support or more in four national or early state polls and has not received donations from at least 130,000 unique donors.
