UNION CITY, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- A community is mourning three children who died in a house fire in Union City, New Jersey on Friday.

As WCBS 880’s Steve Burns reported, a 2-year-old, 5-year-old and 7-year-old died after a multifamily home caught fire early Friday morning.

A relative of the children told Burns that there is still a toddler, 7-year-old and two adults still in critical condition.

Two dozen firefighters were also injured battling the blaze, 18 were treated at the scene while six others were taken to the hospital. All are expected to make a full recovery.

A neighbor who witnessed the fire said flames had been exploding out of the windows and debris had scattered throughout the street.

Investigators are still trying to figure out the cause of the fire, but officials say the home had no fire alarms inside.
