Cuomo Orders Investigation of Ku Klux Klan Propaganda Distributed Upstate

August 04, 2018 - 3:34 pm

ALBANY (WCBS 880) -- An investigation is underway to find the source of Ku Klux Klan propaganda distributed in bags of Snickers upstate.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the investigation Friday after white supremacists attempted to lure new recruits with pamphlets and candy. The state will be investigating it as a hate crime.

Police say the hate group dropped Snickers bars in plastic bags containing the racist propaganda. The materials were distributed in Oneida County, according to Cuomo’s office.

Police are still working to uncover the source, and determine if they were designed to promote or incite hate crimes.
