NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A Staten Island father has been charged with murder in the deaths of his girlfriend and their two toddlers, all three of whom were found lifeless at the family's smoke-filled home Saturday.

Shane Walker, 36, was charged with murder, manslaughter, arson and criminal possession of a weapon.

The boys were identified as 3-year-old Elia Walker and 2-year-old Ivan Walker. Their mother was identified as 37-year-old Alla Ausheva.

Walker and the two boys were discovered at a home on Palisade Street and Lily Pond Avenue in the Arrochar neighborhood, near the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. Sources told the New York Post that the children appeared to have been drowned in a bathtub.

At a news conference Saturday afternoon, police said the home was filled with smoke and a small fire when officers arrived. The mom and two boys were found in one room of the house after the FDNY put out the fire.

Walker was found wandering along the BQE at 7:48 a.m., police said. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation.

Both Ausheva and Walker were said to be active members of the U.S. Air Force.

Officers had responded to one domestic incident at the home in the past, according to police.

The medical examiner will determine what killed them.
