NEW YORK (WCBS) – A recall has been issued for baby cough syrup sold nationwide at Dollar General stores, after it was found to cause vomiting and diarrhea.

The medicine’s manufacturer, Kingston Pharma, is recalling a lot of its DG™/health NATURALS baby Cough Syrup + Mucus, after testing showed some bottles of the product may be contaminated with a bacteria that can cause gastrointestinal illness.

No one has been sickened by the product as of yet, but the bacteria is known to trigger serious illnesses.

The recalled bottles come in packages marked with “Lot KL180157” with an expiration date of 11/20 and UPC code 8 54954 00250 0.

The pharmaceutical company has stopped making the product while the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continues to investigate.

Anyone who has purchased a recalled bottle is asked to return it to any Dollar General store for a full refund.
