Dunkin’ Warns ‘DD Perks’ Users Of Possible Data Breach
NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Dunkin’ customers who have a “DD Perks” account might have had their personal information stolen during a data breach last month.
“Dunkin’ customers who have a “DD Perks” account might have had their personal information stolen during a data breach last month,” the company formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts said it a statement.
Users may have had their names and email addresses stolen during the security breach. Account numbers and DD Perks QR codes may have also been accessed.
Dunkin’ notes that “it it is possible that these third-parties may have succeeded in logging in to your DD Perks account if you used your DD Perks username and password for accounts unrelated to Dunkin’.”
The company believes hackers obtained information in other companies’ security breaches and used it to log into some Dunkin’ “DD Perks” accounts.
Dunkin’ has launched an internal investigation and forced a password reset for all accounts that may have been affected. They recommend guest create unique passwords for their “DD Perks” accounts and do not reuse passwords from other online accounts.
