NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- An off-duty FDNY firefighter and aspiring rapper was killed in a suspected road-rage attack on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn Sunday morning.

Faizal Coto, 33, was found lying next to his damaged 2008 Ford Mustang on the Belt Parkway shortly before 5 a.m., according to police.

He was found with severe head trauma and was later pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital, police said.

Police were reportedly investigating near Bay 8th Street in Bath Beach for hours after the crash.

The NYPD is still investigating how Coto got his injuries, but sources told the New York Post that he was struck over the head with an object while arguing with another driver about a fender-bender.

The FDNY says Coto was with the department for three years and that he was assigned to a Coney Island engine company.

He was also an aspiring rapper who performed under the name FAIYA.

He recently posted on Facebook that he was getting back into his music.
