FDNY Investigation Uncovers Marijuana Grow House In Bronx Apartment

December 27, 2018 - 5:34 pm

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Authorities discovered a suspected marijuana grow house inside two units of a Bronx apartment complex Thursday.

The discovery was made when fire officials had responded to reports of down wires and a possible gas leak in a building on Jacobus Place near West 225th Street.

The buildings fourth and fifth floors were evacuated as a precaution.

Reports then began coming in about a possible marijuana grow house in an apartment, causing law enforcement to swarm the area.

No one was in the apartments at the time of the discovery but multiple plants and equipment were confiscated.

The suspected grow house is located near the building where FDNY Battalion Chief Michael Fahy was killed in a marijuana grow house explosion two years ago.

Police are working to determine the identities of the apartments’ residents.
