Flash Flood Watch As Drenching Rains Take Aim At Tri-State

October 11, 2018 - 11:29 am

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- It's going to be a soggy day with lots of rain coming into the Tri-State area Thursday afternoon.

A flash flood watch is in effect for from noon Thursday through 6 a.m. Friday.

Several streams of moisture coming up along the shore mixing with a cold front coming down from eastern Canada swirling into Michael which is moving in a northeasterly direction will combine to bring hefty amounts of rain, WCBS 880's Chief Meteorologist Craig Allen reported.

The heaviest rainfall will be south and east of the city.

Rain will continue through the night and Allen reports it may take until morning for it to start tapering down over eastern Long Island.

Temperatures will drop overnight and will remain in the low 60s Friday.

The area is in store for a rather cool autumn weekend.
