NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Thunderstorms and strong winds may cause havoc throughout the Tri-State area late Thursday.

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for New York City and northeastern New Jersey ahead of heavy rain expected in the evening.

A “hazardous weather outlook” for southeast New York and southern Connecticut was also issued earlier in the day.

The warnings are only expected to last overnight and into early Friday morning, when thunderstorms are predicted to be the strongest.

Friday is expected to be cloudy with sun but still warm and humid with a high of 87 degrees.

Saturday and Sunday will also be mostly sunny and very warm, but not as humid.
