MORRIS PLAINS, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- Morris Plains has opened a new road named Governor Chris Christie Drive.

The former governor, who lives in neary Mendham Township and previously served as Morris County Freeholder in the mid-1990s, was given the first ride on the new road in the passenger seat of a 1922 Franklin.

The road was built to provide access to Central Park of Morris County.

It is a third of a mile long.
Earlier this year, a new vocational high school in Essex County named its public safety center after Christie.
