Former Texans Cheerleader Claims Coach Duct-Taped Her Body, Called Her 'Skinny Fat'

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A former NFL cheerleader is suing the Houston Texans, alleging a coach duct taped her body without her consent to try to make her appear thinner.

Angelina Rosa was a cheerleader with the Houston Texans who loved her job and her colleagues on the squad.

"I can still remember my father taking me to various sporting events and me immediately falling in love with the game but even more so with the beautiful ladies on the court and field, dancing, interacting and entertaining the fans," Rosa said. "I'm a team player, I love my team and I wanted to be there for them."

So she said she didn't think to complain when duct tape was used to pull back her skin and slim her down under her costume, WCBS 880's Mike Sugerman reported.

At 5-foot-4, 125 pounds, Rosa said her coach called her "skinny fat."

"Skinny fat is the term the coach frequently used to say that we're skinny but we're not toned," Rosa said. "Which I think is insane because we all are beautiful, we made the team for a reason. I stayed consistent with my weight so it's reeally bizarre to do my job and still feel like it wasn't good enough."

It was humiliating, she said, among other things she did for what turned out to be less than minimum wage.

Rosa has joined a lawfuit filed earlier this month by prominent women's rights attorney Gloria Allred on behalf of five other Houston Texans cheerleaders who claim they were paid less than $7.25 an hour, weren't compensated for special appearances and were harassed, intimidated and forced to live in fear.

"I'm sure that there will be others who will also be filing in the future," Allred said, adding cheerleaders are often assigned other humiliating and often questionable tasks.

This is the second lawsuit to be filed against the team. Three other cheerleaders sued the Texans last month alleging unfair pay and body shaming.
