Frigid Air Meets Parade-Goers On Fifth Ave For St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Saturday was a day to celebrate America's Irish heritage and culture, as the St. Patrick's Day Parade made its way down Fifth Ave.

It was a lovely, but frigid day as on-lookers with rosie cheeks lined Fifth Avenue.

Even Cardinal Dolan was wearing his long, green underwear, WCBS 880's Rich Lamb reported.

Shamrocks were mounted everywhere as 150,000 marchers made their way up the green stripe from 44th Street up to 79th Street -- the length of the parade lined by millions.

A green shamrock rug was rolled out in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral, but Dolan was not confined, as he made his way to the street where the green, white, and gold of the Irish tri-color waved in a frigid breeze.
