Gun Control Advocates Plan To Push Dems On The Issue

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Gun control advocates say they will hold Democrats’ feet to the fire in the upcoming election year if they don’t do enough on gun control.

In the wake of the mass shootings over the weekend, gun control activists are urging Senate Democrats to use their leverage to get Republicans on board with gun control measures.

“This is a real opportunity, people want to see action and people want to see their champions fight for them, to actually fight,” says Igor Volsky, Executive Director of Guns Down America, adding it’s just not lawmakers that should be accountable.

“Large corporations play their role in helping build a future with fewer guns. I am calling on Walmart to play their part.” he said.

Walmart is one of the nation’s largest gun sellers but no longer sells assault rifles or sells to customers under 21.

A company spokesman says right now, their focus is on supporting the associates, their customers and the El Paso community.
