NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- New York's 'Salute To Israel' parade takes place on Sunday, and will head up Fifth Ave from 57th to 74th Streets.

It will mark the 70th Anniversary of Israel's founding, and the NYPD will be keeping an eagle eye on it.

"We have no specific, credible threats against this event. In fact we have no threat reporting at all," Intelligence and Counterterrorism Deputy Commissioner John Miller explained.

Miller said the NYPD analyzes the real world situation.

"If you look from May to May, is Israel, that's 53 terrorist attacks -- 11 since March. Some heightened tensions in the Gaza Strip, and regarding the events such as moving of the U.S. embassy, so you factor all of that it," he said.

In addition to counter surveillance teams and plan clothes cops in the crowd, there will be a bomb squad and heavy weapons personnel.

"We are going to use ana rray of blocker vehicles, approximately 70. That's going to be a mix of police cars, but also large sand trucks depending on the configuration of the intersection," Miller said.

Miller added that the FBI and NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force will be a part of the security package.
