Hundreds Of Flights Canceled At NYC-Area Airports

March 21, 2018 - 1:06 pm

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Hundreds of flights were canceled at New York City area airports Wednesday as a fourth nor'easter in three weeks slams the region.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Executive Director Rick Cotton said air travel would be "severely, severely affected by this storm.''

"The cancellations are pretty severe and I think as you go through the day there's going to be extremely limited flight activity at all of the airports," Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman told WCBS.
Airlines later canceled all flights for Wednesday at LaGuardia airport.

Newark Liberty and John F. Kennedy international airports were severely hampered as well, and the situation worsened throughout the day.

Westchester County Executie George Latimer said the county airport there remained open through the day, but most flights were canceled.

Travelers were urged to contact their airline about the status of their flight before heading to the airport.
