Man In Custody After Trespasser Disrupts LIRR Service

October 11, 2018 - 9:34 am

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A trespasser on the tracks in one of the East River tunnels caused problems on the Long Island Rail Road during the height of the morning rush Thursday.

Westbound service was temporarily suspended between Jamaica and Penn Station around 8 a.m. and some trains were delayed by more than an hour.

Riders, many of whom were on their way to work, took to Twitter to voice their frustration.

Limited service was restored around 9:30 a.m. but delays persisted hours later.

A man has been taken into custody, CBS2 reported.
