Nassau County police say the boy was playing basketball at the Sid Jacobsen Jewish Center in Greenvale on Saturday when Coach Cheikh Kadim Ndiaye allegedly punched him in both his arms with a closed fist.

The boy complained of pain and bruising. It’s unclear if he sought medical treatment.

After an investigation, Ndiaye was taken into police custody and charged with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

It’s not clear what might angered the coach.

Ndiaye will be arraigned on May 20 in Hempstead.
