LI Man Accused Of Running Sex Trafficking Ring In Parents’ Basement

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A Long Island man has been charged with running a prostitution ring out of his parents’ home.

“This is a dangerous and deprived individual,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Tim Sini.

Authorities say Sound Beach resident Raymond Rodio III, 47, lured women in with drugs, kept them captive in a basement and force them into a life of prostitution.

“He kept women locked up in the basement of his parents’ house. He used the basement of his parents’ home as a dungeon,” Sini said.

He adds that Rodio used social media to target victims, caused them to become addicted to heroin and crack cocaine and forced them to have sex.

Sini says there is some indication Rodio’s parents may have known what was happening in their home, but they are currently not being charged.

Over 20 women were victims of Rodio’s prostitution scheme.

Authorities say the investigation originally began during a routine traffic stop when Suffolk County police officers noticed the unusual nature of the 47-year-old with a young woman, who didn’t seem physically or mentally healthy.

Rodio pleaded not guilty to sex trafficking and other charges on Thursday.

He is being held on $1 million cash bail or $2 million bond.
