Louis C.K. Returns To Stage For First Time Since Sexual Misconduct Allegations

August 28, 2018 - 10:24 am

NEW YORK (WCBS 880/AP) -- Louis C.K. is back on stage.

The comedian made an unannounced appearance Sunday night at the Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village in what was apparently his first stand-up performance since he admitted last year to engaging in sexual misconduct.

The club's owner, Noam Dworman, told the New York Times he watched a video of the appearance. He said the 50-year-old was "very relaxed'' and was greeted by an ovation from the audience. He says he performed "typical Louis C.K. stuff" during the 15-minute set with riffs on racism, waitresses and parades.

Dworman tells the Times that as a business owner, he understands "some people will be upset with me" but added "there can’t be a permanent life sentence on someone who does something wrong."
Five women last November accused the comedian of inappropriate behavior. He released a statement in which he said the stories were true and he expressed remorse for his actions.
The actions resulted in the end of a production deal with FX Networks and the cancellation of a movie release.
