NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A Rockland County man has been charged with assault and reckless endangerment after his drone fell from the sky above a Brooklyn rabbi's funeral procession Tuesday.

The drone had been hovering around the synagogue on 54th Street in Borough Park for the funeral of Grand Rabbi Yisroel Avrohom Portugal, who died Monday at age 95.

Yehiel Rosenfeld, of Monsey, says he was trying to land the drone on a rooftop, when he lost control of it, causing it to plummet to the ground and hit an NYPD officer in the face.

He claims he had only had the drone for a week.

The officer suffered some bruises and cuts, but she was not seriously hurt.

Another officer was hurt in a separate incident when the hearse carrying the rabbi’s casket ran over his leg. He suffered a broken ankle.
