Police: Man Found Dead On Manhattan Street With Stab Wound In Chest

August 20, 2018 - 6:53 am

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- A man died after being stabbed in the chest and left on a Manhattan street early Monday.

Police said the incident happened at around 3 a.m. when a cab driver found an injured man lying in the street near West 46th Street and Ninth Avenue.

When cops arrived, they found the man with trauma to the face and a stab wound in the chest. He was unconscious and unresponsive.

The man was taken to Roosevelt Hospital and was later pronounced dead.

There were no arrests made and it’s unclear how the man ended up in the street.

Morning commuters were shocked to see the road closed off by police tape. Many residents in the area said there’s been petty crime in the area, but it’s rare to see a fatal attack.

The victim’s identity was not revealed as police worked to notify the man’s family.

Investigators were at the scene throughout the morning searching for surveillence video that could provide some information.
