Man Killed, 5 Wounded In Early Morning Brooklyn Shooting

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A 30-year-old man was killed and five other people were wounded in an early morning shooting in Brooklyn on Wednesday, police said.

The five people who were wounded in the shooting were all expected to survive, according to police, who said they were searching for two to three gunmen.

A group of people were on President Street, near Franklin Avenue, in Crown Heights around 2:15 a.m. when gunshots were fired at the crowd, police said.

A 25-year-old woman and 19-year-old man were both shot in the buttocks; a 19-year-old man was shot in the back; and a 35-year-old man was shot in the arm, police said.

Two victims were taken to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, while two other victims were taken to Kings County Hospital. All of them were in stable condition, according to police.

A 52-year-old woman who was shot in the leg and a 39-year-old man who was shot in the torso also arrived at Kings County Hospital by private means, according to police.

The 39-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the 52-year-old woman was in stable condition.

The man who was killed has not been identified.

Hours earlier, around 2 p.m. Tuesday, a 15-year-old boy and a man in his 30s were killed in a double shooting at an apartment near Deerfield Road and Beach 29th Street in Far Rockaway, Queens.

The shootings are part of a wave of gun violence that has hit the city in recent weeks, with more than a dozen shootings in the city on Monday alone.
