NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A man accused of running over his ex-wife and then stabbing her to death with a machete has been arrested in Pennsylvania.

Victor Mateo, 63, was arrested by U.S. Marshals and the NYPD in Hazelton earlier this week. An extradition hearing to bring him back to New York to face murder charges was scheduled for Friday.

Mateo fled the state after he allegedly killed his ex-wife, Noelia Mateo, in broad daylight on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Police allege the 63-year-old waited for his former wife with leave for work and as she was getting into her car, he attacked, jumping into the driver’s seat and reversing the vehicle over her body.

They say he then got out of the car and brutally hacked her to death with a machete.

Authorities say as the 58-year-old woman was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, where she died, Victor Mateo took off in her car.
