NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The once disastrous Mets are making a run at the playoffs.

With Wednesday’s 7-2 victory over Miami, the Mets are now 19-6 since the all-star break and fans are optimistic.

As WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell reported, before the All-Star Break, the Mets were unbearable. But now, it's a whole new ballgame.

“Six weeks ago, I wasn't watching. Now that they started playing well, it's just amazing, it's been a lot of fun,” said Stu Motechin.

He’s thinking positively after the Mets swept the Marlins at Citi Field. He’s even thinking about a possible run at the World Series.

“With the pitching staff they have, I think they could go all the way. They got five great starters. Now, just make the playoffs and it's a whole new season,” Motechin tells Haskell.

Meanwhile, Darren Singer, a lapsed Mets fan, says he’s hooked again after seeing four home runs at Citi Field in one day.

“Watching them knock them out of left and right field is a beautiful thing to watch. It never gets old,” he adds.

The Mets have won six straight and 13 of their last 14 matchups.
